Committed to sustainability in every detail.
At Hotel La Milagrosa, we understand that sustainability is not just a trend, but a responsibility that we take seriously and dedicate ourselves to. We strive every day to minimize our impact on the environment, integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations. From the use of renewable energy to the reduction of plastic waste, we aim to offer our guests an unforgettable experience that is also respectful to the planet.
Below, we present the main actions that we have implemented to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future. These initiatives not only reinforce our commitment to the environment, but also make every stay at our hotel an opportunity to support the protection of the environment.
100% GREEN ENERGY THANKS TO ECO-ONE
At Hotel La Milagrosa, we are committed to a more sustainable future and environmentally friendly. Thanks to hiring an energy provider with a 100% renewable supply certificate, all the energy we use comes from green sources. This initiative not only reduces our carbon footprint, but also allows us to actively contribute to the preservation of the natural environment.

Efficient Water Management
We are currently carrying out an engineering project focused on optimizing water use, with three key objectives: (I) optimizing operating costs related to water and energy consumption (opex), without incurring any additional costs or investments, (II) protecting ourselves against regulatory risks arising from the growing water stress situation and its possible impact on the business, and (III) improving our positioning in ESG criteria (Environmental, Social, and Governance), highlighting the positive impact that this project has on the environment and positioning Hotel La Milagrosa as a committed actor to its surroundings and dedicated to addressing one of the most urgent challenges of our time: the efficient and sustainable management of water.
The project includes specific actions on faucets, shower hoses, shower trays, and tanks. Thanks to these measures, a 42% saving in water consumption is estimated, equivalent to 1,636.29 m³ annually. In addition, this reduction will result in a parallel energy saving, as the use of the domestic hot water system (ACS) will also be optimized, avoiding the emission of 2,752 kg of CO2 per year.
USE OF ECO-FRIENDLY AMENITIES
We offer environmentally friendly and biodegradable personal care and hygiene products, presented in recyclable packaging or made with sustainable materials. This measure has allowed us to reduce the use of plastics and minimize the generation of non-biodegradable waste. In addition, by using these products, we contribute to reducing our environmental impact, promoting a greener and more sustainable future.
COLLABORATION WITH TOO GOOD TO GO
Through our collaboration with Too Good To Go, we actively contribute to reducing food waste by saving food packs that would otherwise go to waste.
This initiative allows us to avoid CO₂eq emissions and reduce the environmental impact associated with food waste, thus reinforcing our commitment to a more responsible and sustainable model of tourism.
The results of this action are continuously updated and can be viewed on our counter, reflecting the real and growing impact of this collaboration over time.

COLLABORATION WITH ALICANTE RENACE
In collaboration with the Alicante Renace project, we participate in the reforestation of degraded areas by planting native trees. So far, we have contributed more than 200 holm oaks and 100,000 seeds in the Sierra del Porquet of the Palmeral de Alicante, thus offsetting 20% of our annual carbon footprint. By 2025, our goal is to offset 50% of our footprint through the continuous planting of native species, with the objective for 2027 of offsetting 100% of our carbon footprint emissions.

USE OF MOTION DETECTORS AND INTELLIGENT SENSORS
We have integrated motion detectors for lighting and smart sensors in air conditioners, which turn off automatically when no presence is detected or when windows are open. These measures have allowed us to reduce energy consumption by 30% in common areas and up to 25% in rooms.
Support to the local community
We collaborate with local producers to acquire organic and fair trade products, contributing to the local economy and reducing our carbon footprint. Approximately 70% of the fresh foods we offer to our guests come from local suppliers, which not only supports small businesses, but has also created direct jobs in the community, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and responsible development.
Promotion of responsible practices among guests
We plant trees thanks to our customers
As part of our commitment to more conscious tourism, as part of the BE ECO AWARE programme, we have launched a simple and transformative action: for every night that a guest chooses not to have their room cleaned, we plant a tree.
A voluntary choice that reduces the consumption of water, energy and chemicals…
and which translates into new trees planted in collaboration with the Alicante Renace project…
Thanks to this measure, we have managed to save 108,000 litres for the planet.
Small individual gestures that, added together, generate a real impact.
Less emissions, more life.
Sustainable team building initiative in a natural environment
At Hotel La Milagrosa, we not only focus on sustainability within our daily operations, but also on the development of our team. As part of our sustainability actions, we organise team building days linked to nature at Finca Buixcarró, an ecologically protected area in the Serra Mariola National Park.
During these days, our employees take part in activities such as:
- Interpretive hiking to learn about the native ecosystem and conservation efforts for local flora and fauna.
- Planting of native species guided by experts, contributing to the restoration of the natural environment.
- Gymkhana at the Apibotanic Garden, promoting the conservation of wild bees, a species in danger of extinction.
